March is quite a busy month for the Club, so I have jotted down a few dates.

2nd March Social Evening at Greshams 1930hrs, with a talk from Carl Boucher from Science In Sport Nutrition – Carl is very knowledgeable and is happy to take our questions from members.

4th March Roller Evening at Copdock Cricket Club

An application has been made on behalf of the Club for places again this year.
We should hear by the end of the month if IBC are successful and will announce the method of how members can apply.

IMPORTANT please don’t register for the Club Challenge yourself or again.

Coached Training 17th & 24th Jan

Our final sessions of the winter season will be 17th & 24th Jan at Foxhall Stadium.
We are currently looking into some away sessions for February, possibly Tunstall Forest and Maglia Rosso.

Please arrive and be ready to ride at 10am
Don‘t forget your bicycle (in full working order), helmet, drink, £3.00 per rider and appropriate clothing for the weather.

Autumn/Winter sessions will all be offroad where a Mountain or Cyclo Cross bike will be required. Sessions will look at core bike handling skills and combine mini race scenarios giving a good workout. Sessions work around and support entries to the Eastern Cyclo Cross League, the calendar below include league dates.

2015 ICA evening Timetrial Series dates Announced

Draft dates for next years ICA evening Timetrial have been agreed between the respective clubs. Note earlier start times for all events this year to accommodate more riders and a possible change to the format to promote more Ladies, Juniors and roadbikes: Watch this space in new year.

3 Youth Opportunities from British Cycling incl women & girls MTB

1) Go-Ride Cyclo-Cross Holiday Programme – Monday 27th October, near Bury St. Edmunds

This is aimed at both novice and experienced racers. We are based at a new venue for us, Maglia Rosso bike shop and café. 10am – 3pm.

Bikes available to borrow:

The bikes are suited for those aged 12 plus.  In particular you need the following minimum saddle heights (measured from pedal to top of saddle).

Small Min saddle height 75 cm Max saddle height 92.5cm
Large Min saddle height  79.5 cm Max saddle height 97 cm

2) Intensive Cyclo-Cross training sessions

Here are the details for this seasons Contenders Cyclo-Cross training sessions.  These sessions are designed for our best youth riders in the region to prepare them for national level competition.  They are intensive training sessions that enable riders to work with others of a similar standard and identify weaknesses that can be worked on in club sessions.

Riders are expected to be racing Cyclo-Cross regularly and have their own Cyclo-Cross bike.  This year we are taking Youth aged riders (Under 16’s) and first year juniors.
Under 16’s and Under 14’s are welcome.
There will be a limit of 20 riders per session so you will need book with me – just email to book on.

The dates are:

Sun 5th October                 Welwyn
Sat 1st November             Colchester
Sat 6th December          Hog Hill (TBC)
Sat 20th December           Ipswich

The sessions usually take 2 – 3 hours during a morning. Charges will vary depending on the venue but are usually  less than £5.

3) Women and Girls Mountain Biking at the Hadleigh Farm Olympic Site on Tuesday 28th Oct

Mark will be running some Women and Girls introductory sessions during half term. Ideal for Mums and Daughters. Places need to be booked via the British Cycling Calendar. The sessions are open to Girls aged 12 upwards. Bikes are available to borrow – check sizes and book with me.

A not to be missed opportunity to try out the Hadleigh Farm Olympic course before it opens to the public.  These sessions cover the basics to allow you to enjoy MTB riding on tougher trails or progress to giving racing a go.

Women and Girls Cyclo-Cross at Redbridge Cycle Centre (Hog Hill) on Thursday 30th Oct

If you want to get into ‘cross racing but are not sure you have the skills then come along and have a go. If you want to improve your general bike handling skills for road riding then these sessions are ideal. The afternoon session covers different skills so you can attend either or both sessions. You can use a Cyclo-Cross bike or a MTB at these sessions.
