2) Intensive Cyclo-Cross training sessions

Here are the details for this seasons Contenders Cyclo-Cross training sessions.  These sessions are designed for our best youth riders in the region to prepare them for national level competition.  They are intensive training sessions that enable riders to work with others of a similar standard and identify weaknesses that can be worked on in club sessions.

Riders are expected to be racing Cyclo-Cross regularly and have their own Cyclo-Cross bike.  This year we are taking Youth aged riders (Under 16’s) and first year juniors.
Under 16’s and Under 14’s are welcome.
There will be a limit of 20 riders per session so you will need book with me – just email to book on.

The dates are:

Sun 5th October                 Welwyn
Sat 1st November             Colchester
Sat 6th December          Hog Hill (TBC)
Sat 20th December           Ipswich

The sessions usually take 2 – 3 hours during a morning. Charges will vary depending on the venue but are usually  less than £5.

Please let Mark know if you want to come – contacts below.

3) Women and Girls Mountain Biking at the Hadleigh Farm Olympic Site on Tuesday 28th Oct

Mark will be running some Women and Girls introductory sessions during half term. Ideal for Mums and Daughters. Places need to be booked via the British Cycling Calendar. The sessions are open to Girls aged 12 upwards. Bikes are available to borrow – check sizes and book with me.

A not to be missed opportunity to try out the Hadleigh Farm Olympic course before it opens to the public.  These sessions cover the basics to allow you to enjoy MTB riding on tougher trails or progress to giving racing a go.

If riders would prefer to participate in our normal club ride starting at Northgate Sports Centre 9am, please contact David Boother on 07769 584231 and we will endeavour to meet your wishes.

IBC ride leaders will guide and chaperone the less experienced riders wishing to have support on the sportive.

Ipswich Bicycle Cub (IBC) members gain an exclusive £5 discount entering the event on the day. Full price would be £25.

The 100km ride includes:

  • 62miles is not much further than most Saturdays
  • Espresso or Coffee at registration
  • Mule bar and energy gel nutrition
  • Signed route (gps routing if you contact Matt Kerr)
  • Chip timing
  • 3 rest/refreshment stops – no rush or time pressure
  • Adnams beer (or soft drink) and Hog Roast (or vegetarian option) at HQ on return
