Dear Members,

Thank you to those who came to the last social night at Greshams. Hope you all enjoyed the informative talk by Sportsmen East. Some people asked for a copy of Mike’s presentation, if you did want it please could you email Mike and he will send it to you.

His email is mb.sportstherapy@yahoo.co.uk. Just to remind you all, SportsMedEast are continuing their 25% discount for all club members.

This Monday evening is our monthly Club Social evening at Greshams. We are pleased at this meeting to have Dave Chisholm from Carbonology coming to give us a talk about all things Carbon Fibre. Dave is a fantastic engineer who started his career in the Royal Navy, was the logistics manager for Cycling & Sailing at the Sydney Olympics & most recently Dave has been working on project Speedbird to set a new world speed record on water. When not involved in amazing projects Dave Runs Carbonology – a Carbon fiber fabrication, supply & repair business. This is a talk not to be missed! 7pm for 7.30 start.

The Eastern District Hill Climb takes place on the 18th Oct. Entry is here and is run at Semer Village on Watsons Hill. This annual Hill Climb is very popular for both spectators and competitors. The first rider goes off at 1100.

Ipswich Bicycle Club is delivering a range of coaching from basic and intermediate cycling techniques, through to preparing riders for competitive cycling in cyclo cross or road racing. Each coach is qualified to deliver British Cycling’s programmes, where riders can progress into competition. Ipswich Bicycle Club is a Go-Ride accredited club, and is able to deliver this programme regularly at club sessions and also externally to schools.

Check out the Club website for more information under coaching

The Club has also arranged some informal Cyclo Cross training for those who like it muddy! Training takes place on Tuesdays at Wherstead Ski slope, behind the driving range from 6.30pm.

Long standing Club member Keith Hill is going to hang up his Time Trailing stop watch. Keith has done this successfully for many years and his service to time trailing is very much appreciated. The Club needs some people who would to learn the art of time keeping. If you are interested please drop a line to Paul Rippon.

The AGM will take place at Greshams on the 2nd November. Notice and agenda to follow shortly.

Lastly, membership of the Club is now 246 members! This is a great amount of people, from so many different aspects of cycling.

Kind regards

Paul Rippon.
