Updated – Training Principles Seminar

Dr Mark Walker a revered sports scientist and coach, with a passion for cycling, will give a talk to club members. Spaces available.

This FREE opportunity is exclusive to Ipswich Bike Club members and will focus on the training principles of Training Levels and Periodization.

Who is Dr Mark Walker?
Cycling has always been my passion and although I studied in different fields I had always enjoyed reading about sports science and this is what ultimately led me to move into the field of sports science.  I have now been lecturing in exercise physiology for 11 years and I am currently the deputy head of the School of Sports, Equine and Animal Science at Writtle College.

As part of my PhD I studied pacing strategy within cyclocross.  I was fortunate enough through this work to meet and research some of the world’s best cyclocross riders.  As a result of feeding back data a number of riders asked me to coach or advise them including Helen Wyman, Sean Dunlea and Hugo Robinson. I also provide sports science support to Alex Dowsett.

I’ve worked with many of the best male and female road riders in the country and have a portfolio of coached riders from Junior level cyclocross and road through to World Cup cyclocross and World Tour road riders.  I am passionate about developing women’s cycling and it is no coincidence that I have a 50:50 split between male and female riders.
