Based in the county town of Suffolk, England and founded in 1892 our club is one of the oldest in the Eastern counties. Our aim is promote all aspects of cycling both competitive as well as for pleasure and transportation.

At present we have about 100+ members who participate in all types of events ranging from clubs runs, Audax and touring to Time-Trials, Road Racing, track (both hard and grass track), MTB and Cyclo-Cross.

In particular we have enjoyed many off road successes in cyclo-cross and mountain bike races and this is where many of our members excel. This is also an ideal way for youngsters to start, as there are no traffic worries. Most events run an under 12′s race.

• Cycling Trials Trials (formerly the RTTC)
• Cyclists’ Touring Club (CTC)

Membership benefits

As a member of Ipswich BC you will be eligible to:

• Receive the monthly club newsletter packed with results, forthcoming cycling events and information.
• Discounts off equipment at Elmy Cycles (St Helen’s Street, Ipswich).
• Race in CTT events including local “club” time trials through the club’s affiliation of the Cycling Time Trials.
• For a small fee obtain 3rd Party insurance when riding through our affiliation with the CTC. This is inclusive if you subscribe to BCF Membership See British Cycling’s website for more information.
• Benefit from the wealth of knowledge and experience obtainable from our current members who include a Cyclo-cross coach, an ex-cyclo-cross national squad member and an ex-semi-professional roadman and a multiple National and European Track Champion.
• A full coaching service is available for our younger riders.
• Past members have included the 1993 GHS national (Under 18) time-trial champion and Sweden’s National Ladies Road Champion.
• Race for one or more of the club’s 30 trophies covering all disciplines including non-racing activities and novices.

Fees

Membership fees for 2010 are:

• Seniors (18yrs and over) – £20
• Juniors (Under 18yrs) – £15.00
• Family Membership – £25.00
• Student/Retired/Unemployed – £15
• Second claim – £10
• Under 12yrs – Free!

You can join Ipswich Bicycle Club on-line at EntryCentral, paying by card or cheque. Alternatively, download our entry form and send it membership secretary Jo Newstead at 87 Hadleigh Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP2 0JN. We’d prefer you to use the on-line system if you can – it’s much less work for Jo.
